Story Chapter 1 Part 1

The Nelarie Series

Eladia swung her hammer down in anger. She was trying to make a sword that had special powers involved in it and it was not working. She paused to wipe her brow. Eladia was a tall, beautiful woman. She was very muscular and her dark hair was pulled back to reveal her bright green eyes. When she reached for the hammer, a shadow fell upon her. She looked up and saw a local farmer, Brusk standing in the doorway.

"Eladia, could you re-shoe my horse?" Brusk asked.
"Bring her in," Eladia said. She set her tools away and looked at the horse. It did not take her long to do the job. "What brings you into town today?" she asked.
"Drak threw the shoe yesterday and I needed supplies."
"How's Nealan?"
"Good, the baby's due soon."
"Well hurry back to her."
"Yes, Ma'am!" Brusk saluted and grinned.
"Good bye, and give my best to Nealan."
"Thanks!"

After he left, Eladia turned back to the sword. Let's give this one more go. That time it worked for her. She was able to successfully transfer the magic into the sword. Within an hour she had finished the sword. As she hung it on a rack a note appeared out of nowhere. It said, "You going to need a lot more than that soon ~ R." Eladia wrote that more were on the way and sent the note back to the sender. She stayed in the smithy until after dusk. In that time she was able to create another sword.

When she headed home, her dog, Tarak, greeted her. He seemed more excited than usual. She found out why moments later, he friend, Severn, was sitting in her kitchen.

"What brings you here?" she asked while she started supper.
"I felt that you needed me here more than I was needed elsewhere," he said. Severin was a tall, lean man. He had long hair that was tied back and his eyes were black orbs.
"Have you had supper yet?"
"No, Tarak and I decided that we should wait because of what happened last time." They both smiled as memories flew their heads.
"Has Uncle Rashad told you anything yet?" She asked.
"All he said was to come here when I felt that I was needed. Has he told you anything more?"
"Only that he said that I needed more swords made."
After they ate supper, they headed upstairs. They entered a room that was bare except for a small wooden switch by the door. Eladia flipped the switch and crude knobs. She flipped the knobs in a sequence and crude workout equipment appeared. Severin and Eladia worked out for several hours in that room and even had a mock sword fight. Finally, several hours later they went to sleep.
